Every day Red Cross supports people affected by disasters.

In the past 12 months, we have helped 151,510 people across 43 disasters and emergencies, deploying 2,538 staff and volunteers.

Right now we are busy training and equipping our emergency services teams to respond to any disaster across the country at a moment’s notice, including;

  • Working with disaster-prone communities, putting plans in place to reduce local risks
  • Mapping the most likely times and places where disasters will strike
  • Psychological first-aid training so we can help people through trauma
  • Readiness planning to run evacuation centres when they’re needed
  • Knowledge building on service referrals so people get specialised help in an emergency

At the same time, we are in bushfire, flood, cyclone and drought affected communities helping people recover safely and with dignity, and we’re continuing to support people through COVID-19.

But we can’t do this alone. It costs around $5 million to train and equip our teams and keep them in the field.

Your donation means when disaster strikes, no one has to face it alone.
